Program Information:

The role of a dental assistant is an important part of the oral healthcare team. A dental assistant assists the dentist during examination and treatment of a patient, provide direct patient care and educate them on the role that oral health plays in their overall general health.

The Intra Oral Dental Assistant diploma program at Medix School is designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge and experience in infection control, Health and Safety protocols, dental instrumentation and materials and patient chair-side procedures in addition to management of patient records.

Medix school is a Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act (H.A.R.P) approved educational institution and students will develop the skills which enables them to process, expose and mount dental radiographs.

Graduates of the Intra Oral Dental Assistant program are eligible to write the National Dental Assisting Examining Board examination and upon passing the exam are able to practice as a Dental Assistant Level II in Ontario and also qualify for certification with the Ontario Dental Assistants Association.

During the field placement portion of the program, students have the opportunity to visit Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto, or the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario, which they will assist and provide patient care in a dental school setting.
