The Pharmacy Assistant program teaches students the skills they will need to successfully work in a modern pharmacy. Students learn about filling orders under a pharmacist's supervision, identifying prescriptions, entering client information, and the processing of paperwork for orders.
Students learn drug and medical terminology, as well as basic pharmacology. They learn about drug dosage calculations, compounding, commonly used pharmacy computer systems, and pharmacy practices and procedures. Students also learn about the legislation, ethics, and workplace safety regulations applicable to pharmacies.
Graduates of this program will be prepared to apply for pharmacy assistant jobs.
