As a community service worker, you must have good communication and interpersonal skills to enable you to connect with people suffering from drug and alcohol dependencies, mental health issues and more.
Students will gain an understanding of key topics related to the addictions field, including psychology, pharmacology, communications, ethics and case management. In addition, you will develop a fundamental knowledge about addiction, intake procedures, treatment planning, relapse prevention and intervention. This program includes a mandatory community placement
As a support worker, working along side other healthcare professionals such as social workers, you will work with a range of clients, including families, high-risk populations and youth.
